Bench Love.
Can design reduce distances?
Bench Love is a bench design concept by Michele Venisti, presented through a short illustrated story. It explores how the shape of a seat can change the way two people share a space.

The project
The space between two people.
The starting point is not only the bench, but what happens when someone sits down. A shared seat can accommodate two people while keeping them apart; a small change in its shape can suggest a different relationship.
The teaser asks “Can design reduce distances?” and develops the question through a drawn sequence: one person reads, another approaches, and finally the two figures share the central part of the seat. The project brings the encounter to the foreground before defining the product’s technical details.

The design detail
A shape that suggests an encounter.
In the final drawing, the seat slopes towards the centre. This variation invites closeness and translates the project’s theme into an immediately readable form.
The reel presents the concept through characters and movement, leaving its subsequent development open. The relationship between the seat and its users is the core of the story: a small change in an object’s shape becomes an invitation to share a space differently.
