The project
Giving direction to a gesture.
AMORI ZEN is an anagram of the designer Enzo Mari’s name. The ceramic spreader is inspired by a letter opener he designed: a reference reinterpreted by Michele Venisti for an everyday gesture at the table.
Spreading involves guiding a thin surface over bread while following the movement of the hand. Amori Zen addresses this gesture through a continuous form that changes orientation along its length.
The helical twist positions the spreading surface at an angle suited to contact with bread or crispbread, helping distribute the condiment evenly.

The design detail
One continuous form, two orientations.
The geometry connects the grip and working surface without interrupting the object’s profile. The twist expresses this relationship and guides how the spreader meets the surface being covered.
The design uses ceramic to reinterpret a small table utensil: function and form emerge from the same movement.
