Caffè della Caduta.

Where coffee meets the stage.

The logo for Caffè della Caduta in Turin brings together theatre, music and the pleasure of meeting over coffee. Designed for Teatro della Caduta, the visual identity combines a coffee cup, a theatrical figure and lettering with a retro character.

The project

A small stage inside a coffee cup.

The starting point is the meeting of two experiences: pausing for a coffee and becoming absorbed in a performance. The identity for Caffè della Caduta translates this relationship into an image that brings an everyday ritual into the world of the stage.

At the centre of the mark, a female figure emerges from a coffee cup. The curve of her body extends the movement of the coffee, turning a familiar object into a theatrical presence. The name sits on either side, with the figure linking the words. The resulting illustrated mark conveys the character of the place before describing its activities.

The design detail

Balancing illustration and lettering.

The mark pairs its central silhouette with tall, slender letters, broad curves and horizontal flourishes. The ornaments frame the name without enclosing it in a box; the cup, saucer and figure establish a recognisable central axis.

The contrast between black and white holds this detailed composition together. Solid areas make the figure legible, while the rhythm of the letters and decorations recalls traditional signs and theatre cafés. The business card mockup shows a possible application of the logo, with generous margins that give the design room to breathe.
