Black Flower Sfera.
Fragrance takes the shape of a flower.
Black Flower Sfera is a room diffuser designed by Michele Venisti for Millefiori Milano. Its spherical ceramic container is paired with rattan elements shaped into stylised flowers: the part that diffuses fragrance also becomes the object’s defining feature.

The project
Rethinking the diffuser reed.
The design starts with a usually understated part of a diffuser: the reed. In Black Flower, rattan is shaped into loops and curves that recall flower petals instead of remaining straight.
The floral composition contrasts with the simple geometry of the ceramic sphere. The compact vessel and the light arrangement of the diffusing elements create complementary presences.
The design detail
One sphere, two hemispheres.
The sphere consists of two ceramic hemispheres enclosing a transparent PET bottle with a threaded mouth. The outer shell defines the object’s form, while the inner bottle contains the fragrance.
The shaped rattan elements retain a functional role in fragrance diffusion: the flowers are not decoration added to the vessel. The illustrative exploded view reveals the relationship between the two shells and the inner bottle.
