Clan.

Two openings, one everyday gesture.

Clan is a ceramic salt dispenser designed for Baccano. Two differently sized openings allow small or large amounts of salt to be poured: a functional choice that becomes the object’s defining feature.

The project

Function shapes the gesture.

Seasoning with salt means alternating between small adjustments and more generous amounts. Clan translates this need into a branching form whose two openings offer different ways to pour.

The project connects the object’s silhouette to its use: the difference between the openings makes the choice of quantity visible. Continuous surfaces and soft transitions bring the openings together in a single ceramic body, giving character to an everyday utensil.

The design detail

Two openings, two ways to dispense.

The smaller opening is designed for pouring modest amounts of salt; the larger one allows a more generous flow. The amount dispensed depends on the opening selected and the gesture of the person holding the dispenser.

Clan is made from ceramic in glossy white and matt black finishes. The contrast between the two surfaces offers different readings of the same shape: white highlights its reflections, while black emphasises its volume and profile.
