Frame Wood. Reed diffuser.

A frame for fragrance.

Frame Wood is a reed diffuser designed by Michele Venisti for Millefiori Milano. A wooden cover frames the fragrance bottle, turning the diffuser into a small furnishing object designed to be seen.

The project

The bottle becomes part of the interior.

The project explores the relationship between a container and its outer cover. The plastic bottle retains its role as a reservoir, while the wooden cover changes how it appears in a room. The central opening keeps the fragrance and label visible: the container becomes part of the composition.

A square outline with rounded corners gives the diffuser a compact profile. Broad surfaces reveal the wood grain, while the reeds introduce a fine vertical pattern. The contrast between the dark frame and the transparent bottle makes each element distinct.

Frame Wood was offered with covers in different wood species. The cover can therefore change the character of the object while retaining the same shape and fragrance diffusion principle.

The design detail

Three components, one form.

The wooden cover is made in one piece. The plastic bottle is inserted through the rectangular opening underneath, with its neck reaching the round hole at the top. A brown plastic collar fits into this upper hole and screws onto the bottle’s threaded neck. Its flange rests on the wood, securing all three components together. The bottle fills the opening in the frame and hangs from the collar; its neck remains concealed behind the upper wooden section.

The attachment is concentrated at the top, leaving the outline of the frame uninterrupted. The opening in the collar allows the reeds to pass through into the fragrance, which they diffuse into the room without electricity or a flame. The illustrative exploded view shows the relationship between the cover, bottle and collar, and their assembly sequence.
