The project

Form follows the gesture.

Ottolio brings attention to an everyday habit: enjoying bread with olive oil and aromatic herbs. The dish organises the ingredients and guides the movement, turning tasting into a small ritual to share.

The figure-eight shape responds to this sequence of use. Two connected bowls hold the oil and herbs; between them, three raised ribs help control how much oil remains on the bread.

The design detail

From oil to herbs.

The first bowl has a sloping base that collects the extra virgin olive oil in one spot, making it easier to dip the bread.

The bread then passes over the three central ribs to remove excess oil. The second bowl holds aromatic herbs, adding fragrance, texture and flavour to the tasting experience.

A detail of the dining experience.

Designed for restaurants, hotels and food businesses, Ottolio brings function and presentation together, helping shape the identity of the place setting and the tasting experience.
